Shoppers at two Inverness supermarkets are being invited to support humanitarian aid efforts following last month’s destruction of the Kakhovka dam in Ukraine.

Members of the city’s four Rotary clubs have linked up with volunteers from charity, Highlands for Ukraine, to hold collections at the Tesco store in the Inshes Retail Park today and the Tesco store at the retail park in Eastfield Way tomorrow and Saturday.

It follows collections at Morrisons Supermarket in Millburn Road last week.

They will be joined by Ukrainian refugees who have been welcomed in the Highlands after being uprooted from their homeland following the Russian invasion in February 2022.

Refugees have voiced shock at the deliberate blowing up of the dam which has caused widespread flooding across the region and is predicted to have catastrophic ecological and humanitarian consequences for years to come.
