How would we feel if we were going about our everyday lives today, then tomorrow, a neighbouring country invaded us by force, with tanks rolling along our streets, missiles reigning down from the sky above us and the awful wail of sirens sounding day and night? Shocked, confused, terrified – all of these emotions and more flooded over the people of Ukraine in the early morning of February 24, 2022.
Just hours before they had heard rumours that Russia was threatening such action… but here, now, in 21st century Europe, where no such invasion had happened since Hitler! Hardly anyone believed it could be possible. They were wrong! And since then, a living nightmare has overtaken their lives, their country is being slowly destroyed, their people killed in their thousands their children torn from their loved ones.
Today, Ukraine is fighting what could be our fight – and they are not giving in. But the cost is horrific.
Here are some of the awful events that have seen families separated by thousands of miles, mothers burying their sons and daughters, little ones losing their fathers, homes being bombed out of existence. That is the reason we do what we do… to try to help where help is needed.
We are a charity that focuses on providing aid for Ukrainians in their homeland and support for those who have chosen to come to Scotland for their own and their children’s safety.
We need your help to allow us to do this, so please support us with donations if you can – medical items and first aid, nappies, wet wipes, the list never ends, especially with freezing conditions coming soon to Ukraine’s third winter under siege.
